Web Tap Personal Beta 1.1 Released

by Kevin Borders - December 7th, 2006

The latest beta release of Web Tap Personal is now available in the download section. The new version features a significantly improved web management interface. The new interface keeps track of which alerts have been read, fixed, and ignored. It also provides a dynamic view with better alert consolidation and easy sorting. Finally, the alert detail page allows one-click whitelisting for trusted sites.

The new version also contains a number of smaller bug fixes to make the system more reliable. Additionally, we plan to release an installer for Web Tap Personal Beta 1.1 soon that is compatible with 64-bit machines.

For the next version, we plan to add a number of new features, many of which have been requested by users. Some features include automatic WHOIS and reverse DNS lookup on servers generating alerts, maximum database size controls, automatic network interface selection, and a status window displaying the number of packets and HTTP requests analyzed by Web Tap.

I would also like to personally thank all of the people who have provided feedback so far on Web Tap. Your comments and suggestions have helped a great deal, and I look forward to your continued participation in the beta development process.
